A Letter to My 21-Year-Old Self
Dear Me,
Today, as I celebrate another year around the sun, I can’t help but look back and think about you—21
years old, standing at the edge of adulthood with so many questions, hopes, and dreams. If I could sit
across from you right now, I’d hold your hands, look you in the eyes, and share a few lessons I’ve learned
along the way.
First and always—live a Christ-centered life. Put Him above everything and everyone. When you anchor
yourself in Him, you’ll find peace in the storms, wisdom in confusion, and strength in every season.
Love your family deeply. Spend time with them, listen to their stories, hug them often, and say “I love
you” without hesitation. One day, those moments will be priceless memories, and you may be the one
carrying the family legacy forward.
Love yourself, too. Never let anyone treat you like a doormat, steal your joy, or dim your light. Protect
your heart, your peace, and your reputation. Choose friends who love you unconditionally, even if that
circle is small. Forgive—always forgive—even when someone never asks. Carrying bitterness will only
weigh you down. And remember: you are smart, important, beautiful, and deeply loved.
Plan for your future. Start a retirement plan early and let it grow with you. Learn everything you can
along the way—your mind is one of your greatest assets. Use your God-given talents boldly, whether you
work for yourself or for others. Dream big and chase those dreams.
Live each day fully. Tomorrow is never promised, so don’t hold onto anger or grudges. Resolve conflicts
quickly, rest with peace at night, and choose joy whenever you can.
When it comes to relationships, be patient. Wait for a man who loves Jesus, who will pray with you,
encourage you, and walk beside you through life’s valleys and mountaintops. Never settle for less than
respect and unconditional love. Trust God’s timing—it’s always perfect.
Be kind to others. Smile, laugh, and share your joy freely. You may never know how much a simple
gesture can brighten someone’s day.
Take care of yourself—mind, body, and spirit. Rest when you need to, seek help when something feels
off, and never neglect your health. Don’t be afraid to take risks or step outside your comfort zone. That’s
where some of life’s greatest rewards live. And yes—moisturize from head to toe every single day.
Embrace the journey. Life will bring heartache and grief, but it will also bring joy, accomplishments, and
unexpected blessings. You’re never too old to learn something new, and you’re never too young to share
your wisdom with others.
And always, always lead with gratitude. Even in seasons of loss or struggle, gratitude will carry you
through. It shifts your heart, strengthens your faith, and reminds you of the countless ways the Lord has
been faithful.
So, my dear 21-year-old self, walk forward with courage. Keep Christ at the center, hold your family
close, love yourself well, and trust in the One who holds your future. Every step, every stumble, every
triumph—it all shapes the incredible journey ahead of you.
With love and grace,
Your Older Self
