ABOUT SCARLET

A note from Scarlet

The Southern Porch Collective was born from a simple idea: sometimes we all need a porch.

A place to sit for a while. A place to breathe. A place where we can tell the truth about where we are in life without having to pretend that everything is perfect.

I created The Southern Porch Collective from my own journey through life—the beautiful seasons, the difficult ones, the unexpected turns, the losses, the lessons, and the many times I’ve had to figure out what comes next.

Along the way, I learned something I believe deeply: starting over doesn't mean starting from nothing. Sometimes it means taking everything you've learned, everything you've survived, everything you still hope for, and finding the courage to begin again.

And I realized I wasn't the only one who needed that reminder.

There are so many people walking through life carrying things we can't see. Grief. Change. Broken relationships. Family struggles. Questions about faith. Loneliness. Big decisions. New beginnings. Dreams they've put on hold. And sometimes, they simply need to know that someone else understands.

That is where the idea for The Southern Porch Collective began.

My hope for The Porch

This isn't just about creating a website, writing a book, sending emails, or building a brand.

Those things are simply the tools.

The real vision is community.

I want to create an online gathering place where people can come exactly as they are and find something they need—a little encouragement, a meaningful story, a reminder of God's faithfulness, practical wisdom, a place to ask questions, or simply the comfort of knowing they aren't alone.

I want the stories shared here to remind us that our lives don't have to look perfect to have purpose.

I want the words in my book to feel like a conversation with a friend.

I want the emails to arrive when someone needs a little encouragement.

I want the website to be a place people can return to when they're searching for direction, hope, faith, healing, or simply a place to belong.

And I want The Porch Community to become something even more meaningful—a genuine online community where people can connect with one another, share their stories, encourage each other, and walk through life's seasons together.

Because that's what I believe the porch has always represented.

A place where people gather.
A place where stories are told.
A place where wisdom is shared.
A place where tears can fall and laughter can come easy.
A place where nobody has to have it all figured out.

I don't know exactly what The Southern Porch Collective will become.

But I know what I hope it becomes.

I hope it becomes a place where someone who feels alone finds connection.

Where someone who has lost their way finds a little direction.

Where someone who is hurting finds comfort.

Where someone beginning again finds courage.

Where someone questioning their faith finds encouragement.

And where all of us are reminded that there is still beauty ahead, even when we can't see it yet.

So, whether you found your way here because you're looking for answers, encouragement, community, a fresh start, or simply a quiet place to sit for a while...

Welcome to The Southern Porch Collective.

Pull up a chair.

There's room for you here.
